Firm News and Highlights

William F. Winter, a shareholder in our Jackson office, has received honorary degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Tougaloo College. Mr. Winter recently participated in the Spring commencement ceremonies at both colleges.

Mr. Winter is a graduate of the University of Mississippi (B.A., 1943; LL.B., 1949). In addition to the honorary degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Tougaloo College, Mr. Winter also has received honorary degrees from Davidson College, Millsaps College, William Carey College, Troy State University and Mississippi University for Women.

Mr. Winter, who has been associated with our Firm since 1968, has served as Mississippi's Governor, Lt. Governor, Treasurer, State Tax Collector, and a state Representative.

He presently serves in the following leadership roles: President of the Board of the Mississippi Department of Archives and History, Chair of the National Commission on the State and Local Public Service, and a Board member of the Stennis Center for Public Service.
