Our Firm

Community Involvement

Watkins Ludlam Winter & Stennis, P.A. is committed to serving the communities in which our attorneys practice.  The firm has established a rich history of community involvement, and our attorneys continue to donate their time and resources to a broad array of community activities.

Partners In Education

Watkins Ludlam Winter & Stennis, P.A. has been the proud sponsor of Power Academic and Performing Arts Complex through the Jackson Public School District's Partners in Education Program since 1994.  The complex serves students in grades 4 and 5 who are academic achievers and students in grades 4 through 12 who show aptitude for one or more of the performing arts.

The firm works with the school and students on a variety of community and school improvement projects throughout the year.  We received the Jackson Public School District's Golden Achievement Award in 2002 in recognition of and appreciation for developing an outstanding Adopt-A-School Partnership.

Habitat For Humanity

Watkins Ludlam Winter & Stennis, P.A. completed its second Habitat House project in the Midtown section of Jackson, Mississippi in 2003.  We are one of the first Jackson law firms to take on the primary sponsorship role necessary to build a Habitat House.  Members of the firm, along with staff and family, spent 10 weekends working on every phase of construction helping the owner family build their new home.  Our involvement in this project was as much a gift to the firm as it was a gift to our partner family.  Construction of the home provided us with a bonding experience, pride in a job well done, and most importantly, satisfaction in having helped a family obtain new housing while contributing to the revitalization of an area of our community.

Mississippi Volunteer Lawyers Project

The Mississippi Volunteer Lawyers Project (MVLP) represents the nation's first formal association of a state Bar with representatives of the Legal Services Corporation.  This association has resulted in a professional and productive partnership, which unselfishly serves the most needy of Mississippi's poor.

Even before completing its first year of operation, the Mississippi Volunteer Lawyers Project was cited by the American Bar Association and the National Legal Aid and Defender Association as the country's single most outstanding program among state bar associations.  This award is justifiably shared with every member of the private bar who has volunteered their time and expertise.

Over twenty-five of our attorneys have participated in the Project since its inception, agreeing to take indigent cases on a pro bono basis.

Stewpot Community Services

Our attorneys and staff volunteer at the Stewpot Community Kitchen bi-monthly and serve lunch to indigent citizens.  The firm also supports the Stewpot Community Services through financial contributions, thereby assisting Stewpot in other outreach programs in the city.

Salvation Army Angel Tree Program

Each December our firm participates in the Salvation Army Angel Tree Program.  Attorneys and staff support the program by adopting "angels" during the holiday season.  These "angels" are children in the community who are in need of clothes and toys for Christmas.  Over sixty firm volunteers have embraced the spirit of giving by participating in this program and brightening the holidays for more the eighty-five "angels" over the past two years.

Charity Events

Members of the Firm participated in and raised money for numerous charity events, including the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, the Willowood 500 Tricycle Race and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Light the Night Walk.
